SPINAL DECOMPRESSION

What is Spinal Decompression Treatment?

Spinal decompression lengthens the bulging disc by using mechanical traction. For lower back decompression, the patient lies on a table and wears an immobile belt that has a cable attached to it. During the decompression session the cable will retract and the patient will feel a pulling sensation. Each session lasts about 12 minutes. At Bodyworks Chiropractic we use the TRITON DTS Decompression unit and have found it very effective because of its ability to utilize various angles and variables relating to the duration and strength of the pull. The TRITON also has the ability to perform cervical decompression for the neck.

What conditions respond well to Decompression?

Lumbar Decompression is an effective treatment for:

  • Herniated Discs
  • Pinched Nerves
  • Sciatica
  • Degenerative Disc Disease
  • Tension Headaches and Migraines
  • Mid-Back Pain
  • Referred Numbness and Tingling in the Arms and Hands
  • Referred Numbness and Tingling in Legs and Feet

Spinal Decompression is most effective when done in a series of 6 or more sessions close together, and combined with chiropractic manipulations, ice, electric stimulation therapy, laser therapy, and stretching exercises.

How does Decompression work?

Decompression off-loads the disc, allowing the bulged portion to move back towards the center relieving nerve pressure. This results in reduced inflammation, and healing. Medical research supports decompression therapy as studies have proved it to be safe and effective. Research shows that decompression resolves disc related pain and dysfunction in over 85% of patients treated.

How do I know if it will work for my condition?

After an exam and evaluation Dr. Hall can tell you if you are a good candidate for spinal decompression, and will recommend a treatment plan for your condition. It is a safe, non-invasive, low-cost treatment…and we are getting great results.
