THERAPIES

What are Roller Bed Intersegmental Traction Tables?

Many chiropractors skip this step…

Most of our patients say that doing the rollerbeds and stim first is their favorite part of the chiro visit!  The intersegmental traction table (rollerbed) helps to simultaneously stretch muscles and ligaments, while initiating motion in the spinal column.

The rollers situated below the surface provide gentle movement in all segments of the spine, helping the flow of cerebrospinal fluid between the vertebrae, and supplying crucial nutrients.

It feels like a gentle massage and helps to warm up the muscles and joints to receive a better manual chiropractic manipulation.

What is Interferential Current Therapy?

We typically use IFC on all our patients except for young children, pregnant females, and those with pacemakers or other serious health conditions.  It is done simultaneously while you are lying down on your back relaxing on the massaging roller bed.

Interferential current therapy (IFC) is the most common type of electrical muscle stimulation used to treat chronic pain and speed healing. IFC uses paired electrodes of two independent circuits carrying high-frequency 4000Hz and a medium frequency 400Hz. When the two currents cross, the difference in frequency creates interference, which is where the name for the therapy originates. The interferential current is able to travel deep into the muscle tissue or nerves for targeted treatment

This non-invasive, drug-free therapy has minimal side effects. By utilizing higher frequency energy than other forms of EMS, IFC goes past the surface of the skin. It penetrates deep into the body to target the source of pain, without causing discomfort.

How Does It Work?

Positive effects include:

  • Increase blood flow and the production of hormones that promote healing
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Boosts the body’s natural process for responding to pain

Conditions Treated with IFC

IFC is often used to treat:

  • Muscle strains, spasms
  • Sports Injuries
  • Joint damage, and Edema (swelling)
  • Can provide relief from and chronic pain caused by arthritis, or an injury
  • Helps increase joint mobility and range of motion

When IFC Therapy Is Not Recommended

This type of therapy is not advised for young children (8 or younger), women who are pregnant, and patients with pacemakers.
